Wildfire Impact

Understand post-wildfire impacts and develop holistic remediation plans

Wildfires often lead to devastating post-fire impacts and risks, such as flooding and debris flows, and Ä¢¹½tv has the multidisciplinary experience and expertise to evaluate post-wildfire hazards and provide remedial recommendations tailored to specific site conditions.

How do you effectively reduce post-wildfire risks to humans, the environment, and property?

Extended droughts increase the probability and severity of major wildfires as risks are compounded by development in and near fire-prone areas. Major wildfires cause environmental changes, including loss of vegetation and ground cover, alteration of soil properties, and hillside instability. These factors and others can change a watershed's hydrologic response to rain events and can potentially result in post-fire flooding, debris flows, and landslides.

Ä¢¹½tv provides multidisciplinary wildfire consulting expertise and sophisticated technical analysis to evaluate wildfires and their impact, including analysis of geotechnical risks, geologic and hydrologic hazards, as well as the ecological and water quality impacts downstream of fires. Ä¢¹½tv also provides wildfire consulting expertise on the environmental aspects of potential soil contamination from wildfire ash, particularly when the fires burn in developed areas, and on the effects of ash, soot, and char on buildings and building contents.
