Valerie Caer is a chemist by training. She has a PhD in Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). She initially worked for the pharmaceutical industry before moving to the agrochemical business. She has 13 years of regulatory experience with plant protection products. She has a comprehensive working knowledge of EU Regulatory evaluation procedures and risk assessment methods, including relevant guidelines and EC Directives as they pertain to existing and new active substances and products.

Prior to joining Ä¢¹½tv, Valerie Caer was working for Syngenta, where she held different positions.

Her latest role within Syngenta was as European regulatory manager, a role she held for five years. In that role, she took overall responsibility for the regulatory management of three core active substances. This included the preparation of the active substances and products' dossiers in order to gain (re) approval or authorisations. She was responsible for leading teams of experts to achieve the above. Other key roles were to support the business and provide strategic advice in order to gain access to market as efficiently as possible, to liaise with Competent Authorities and to represent Syngenta in organisations such as ECPA (now Crop life Europe).

Prior to that EU role, she was both a technical residue expert, specializing in setting MRLs and Import Tolerances, worldwide for Syngenta fungicide portfolio, and a Fungicide Global regulatory Manager.

Before joining Syngenta regulatory teams in Basel Switzerland, she was working in the UK at Syngenta's research center in the analytical department. There she was responsible for providing NMR support to all parts of the business. Chemical synthesis, natural product structural elucidations, support to the formulation teams etc…

Prior to Syngenta she was working for a pharmaceutical company as an NMR expert first in France and then in the UK.
